Nabunturan, Davao de Oro

The Beautiful province of Davao de Oro,                      Nabunturan

Nabunturan has 28 barangays, and each of these barangays has beautiful scenery. The hot springs are a popular ecotourist attraction in Davao de Oro. Its name, "Mainit," is a Filipino word that means hot. The municipality is home to the Mainit Hot Springs Protected Landscape. In terms of hot springs, it preserves the sulfuric hot springs and surrounding forest in Nabunturan municipality, which also contains the headwaters of the Manat River, a source of water supply for surrounding villages.

For eighteen years, I've been living here in Nabunturan. It's so beautiful, and it's so fun when there's an occasion, one of which is what they called Simballay. Simballay is an annual festivity of the Municipality of Nabunturan, coined from a Mansaka word meaning “togetherness, sharing, and thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.” The Nabunturanons took respite from farms and work to gather in this most awaited event of the year. Women are busy preparing local costumes, men are decorating bunting on the streets and building authentic cottages with abundant displays of teeming local products, and children are peeping in the crowded streets witnessing the merry-making celebrations. Week-long activities were lined up for the people at the feast. Tourists come and go. It was a restless activity of people in the jubilant festive mood. I experienced that when Simballay was celebrated, there were so many people walking around, and there were beautiful huts in every ward of Nabunturan. People here are very creative, and their works are really fascinating. I even took a picture with my classmates, and it was very crowded because there were so many people walking around. You will not really regret going here or taking a tour here because there are many features here in Nabunturan.

The night market in Nabunturan is a vibrant and lively experience that offers a diverse range of food, entertainment, and local products. Typically held in the town center or a designated area fronting the NCCC Store, with stalls and vendors setting up their displays in the evening, we went here after school; there are many foods to choose from, whatever you want to eat. The night market is a food lover's paradise, offering a wide array of delicious local delicacies and street food. You can savor grilled meats, seafood, skewered barbecues, various rice dishes, noodles, snacks, and sweet treats. Make sure to try popular Filipino street foods like isaw (grilled chicken intestines), balut (boiled fertilized duck egg), and fish balls.

There are many beautiful sights here in Nabunturan if you want to explore. All I can say is that it is really worth it, and if you want to stay here, there are many hotels you can search for. It made Nabunturan well known for its potential resources in tourism and agro-industrial aspects.
